Finally, the big news is that Microsoft has also accelerated the 3D APIs on the new platform. 3D gaming is ever needed in the mobile platform and this one will satisfy that hunger to good measure.

Another improvement is the Gamer Services API that will help you pull in any user’s Gamertag and 2D Avatar to his mobile for a better experience.

David Riesenberg obviously had his head in the clouds when he dreamed up the OO High Definition Wireless Projector, but it’s not like we’re kvetching about his imagination’s ability to go far beyond the limits of most humans. For one thing, the concept 1080p projector looks (and lands) like a stunning orange UFO; for another, the specs are otherwordly. Should the device ever come to market, Reisenberg says it will pack SSD storage, WiFi and internal decoder chips into its svelte, 11-inch round carbon fiber frame, as well as three independently articulated legs for balance and a Li-ion battery for up to three hours of cord-free HD streaming and playback. Did we mention it’s got a matching touchscreen remote? And our deepest affection, forever and ever? See what we’re drooling over in Riesenberg’s subtle video homage to a certain interstellar piano waltz right after the break.

[Thanks, David]

While the first phone out there packing Bluetooth 3.0, the Wave, is about to hit the stores in a few weeks, the first Android-based smartphone with the latest version of Bluetooth is still waiting for its announcement. That’s the Samsung SHW-M120S.
We have no images of the SHW-M120S to show you but there’s a nice mini specs sheet.

The Android-powered Samsung SHW-M120S is apparently meant to show up only in South Korea but the world isn’t that big after all. And the M120S is GSM network compatible (HSDPA support is also on board).

Feature-wise, the Samsung SHW-M120S is quite reminiscent of the Samsung Wave, which we previewed recently. You get a 3.3″ AMOLED touchscreen (it’s not clear if we are talking about Wave’s gorgeous Super AMOLED display), a 5-megapixel autofocus snapper and a secondary VGA camera.

Proximity sensor and an inbuilt accelerometer are also to see on the specs list. The SHW-M120S is expected to come with a T-DMB tuner and Wi-Fi support as well as a GPS receiver.

The M120S shows up only a month after the announcement of its bro, the M100S, which has a huge 3.7″ Super AMOLED screen and plenty of other mouth-watering features.

There is still no information when the device will start shipping and if we can expect its European version to see daylight at some point.

Google is reportedly testing a new service with Dish Network that would let subscribers search via their TVs for shows and online video from sites like YouTube.

The new search service would run on Internet-connected set-top boxes loaded with Google software, according to The Wall Street Journal, and would let Dish’s satellite TV subscribers search for and create their own lineups of shows and online content using a keyboard.

The new search service would run on Internet-connected set-top boxes loaded with Google software, according to The Wall Street Journal, and would let Dish’s satellite TV subscribers search for and create their own lineups of shows and online content using a keyboard.

The test started last year and so far has been limited to only some Google employees and their families, the Journal said, citing people familiar with the matter.

The search giant is apparently eyeing the new service as a way of bringing its keyword and search advertising to the TV audience, as subscribers would bump into Google display ads as they search for their favorite shows. The set-top box would also run Google’s Android operating system, providing additional markets for the platform beyond smartphones and mobile devices.

As the worlds of television and the Internet continue to come together, Google joins a growing list of companies trying to offer consumers convenient access to both. Surveys have shown that people increasingly want to be able to view Web-based content on their big-screen TVs. Several major players, such as Apple and Microsoft, already offer their own services that flow in both TV and Web content via set-top boxes.

Other companies are now joining the game. Cablevision is testing a new wireless service that would pipe content from a computer to the TV. Last week, TiVo unveiled a new DVR that lets viewers search for online video.

Google, which generates significant revenue through online ads, is apparently looking to the Dish service as a way to target new content and new advertisements specifically to TV viewers.
