The various Spy groups all over must be going ballistic with excitement with the news that contact lens heads up displays could soon become a reality. Of course it’s more than likely they already have this technology, but I’m a 007 movie buff so I’ll believe anything.

But Dr. Babak Parviz of the University of Washington in Seattle has just shown off a new prototype of lens that’s equipped with a semi-transparent array that includes an LED that receives 330 microwatts of power wirelessly from a RF transmitter in the close vicinity. The prototypes he’s designed have been able to so far display biosensor feedback about the wearer’s vital signs. These type of lenses infused with this kind of technology are called opto-electronic contact lenses.

Seeing as how the iPhone’s exclusivity status has been slipping, it was inevitable that the bourgeoisie would invent a new way to distinguish themselves from the lowly masses.

iPhone 3GS diamond
Enter a designer by the name of Stuart Hughes, already expertly familiar with slapping precious metals onto slightly less precious mobile phones. He classes up a 3GS handset with a 22 carat solid gold body, which he then sprinkles with no less than 190 diamonds. And just to make sure none of the riff raff can get their hands on it, this creation is priced at £1.92 million ($3.2 million), which places it precisely £1.92 million outside our budget.

How much could you trust a celebrity with the design of your notebook? Well, if it were Paris Hilton we could expect a bubblegum keyboard and baby blue monitor, with Mr. Depp we could expect a more wooden texture.

toshiba celebrity designed notebooks
However, this pair isn’t lucky enough to enjoy the privelage of designing notebooks. Simply because Toshiba decided on Hines Ward, Joe Perry, Rainn Wilson and Omar Epps to design their notebooks. They’ve come out with some pretty cool models that go by some rather snazzy names. These include Hines Ward’s (18.4 inch) Satellite P505, Joe Perry’s Satellite Qosmio X505 (18.4 inch) , Rainn Wilson’s Satellite M505 (14 inch) and Omar Epps’ (16 inch) Satellite A505. All these notebooks will be going under the hammer, beginning November 27th. The profits of the same will go to various charities including Hines Ward Helping Hands Foundation, MONA Foundation, Project AWARE and the Mount Calvary AME Church. Toshiba have teamed up with GQ magazine for the same.

Thankfully Nintendo stepped in to the scene and managed to offer a quicker, more ‘Nintendo’ game that has all the characters from the golden days of the console. The characters include Ganondorf, Princess Zelda, Link, Donkey Kong, Luigi, Mario, Slippy Toad, Falco Lombardi, Meta Knight and a lot many. The game has cool tokens with the same theme that include Koopa Shell, Mario’s hat, Donkey Kong’s barrel, Link’s Iron Boots, Hylian Shield and Classic NES controller.
